Joy Arlene Sorel, NP, PMHNP
My name is Joy Arlene Sorel, a Psych NP in New York City. I graduated from Stony Brook University, my NP school.
I started my journey in psychiatric nursing in December 2014 as a Registered Nurse in a children and adolescents unit with behavioral issues. It was a transition for me as I did not think I would adjust well in this field/unit. Not only did I enjoy working with these populations, but I fell in love with psychiatric nursing.
I have expanded my knowledge and begun to work with adults with severe mental illness in Manhattan, New York, which allows me to use clinical experiences and knowledge to provide the best treatment options for these individuals.

Keiran Usher, RPN
I'm Keiran Usher, and my nursing career kicked off in 2020 amidst the global health crisis. This journey has allowed me to explore the often chaotic healthcare landscape across various sectors like mental health, hospitals, long-term care, case management, and public health.
Reflecting on my experiences within the system has highlighted the inherent worth of our profession, which we sometimes overlook. Nurses are pivotal in fostering communication not just with patients but also with their families and fellow healthcare workers, establishing a robust foundation of trust and a strong work ethic. This foundation naturally positions us as excellent candidates for leadership roles in business, characterized by authenticity and ethics. Yet, traditionally, we are trained to channel our efforts into advancing others' visions and enterprises.
My current aim is to empower others to recognize and pursue their own aspirations and latent potentials. While personal growth is achievable in solitude, it is undoubtedly enhanced through teamwork.
