NursesWeCare Mask Fit Testing Service Overview
At NursesWeCare, we provide CSA-compliant qualitative mask fit testing conducted by experienced Registered Nurses (RNs) trained in Infection Prevention and Control (IPAC) and Occupational Health Nursing. Our goal is to promote workplace safety and compliance with respiratory protection standards.

1. Service Inclusions
Our mask fit testing service includes:

A qualitative fit test using Bitrex (Denatonium Benzoate) solution

Fit assessment and seal check education by a qualified RN
-
Issuance of a CSA-compliant wallet-sized certificate
-
Optional laminated Infection Control (IPAC) Quick Guide
-
Optional wellness screening and educational resources
2. Eligibility and Informed Consent
To participate in mask fit testing:

Clients must be 18 years or older or have written parental/guardian consent if underage
-
Testing is only valid for the specific brand and model of N95 respirator fitted
-
Clients must not be experiencing active respiratory symptoms or illness on the day of testing. (Individuals who have recently recovered from a respiratory illness must be symptom-free for at least 24–48 hours before undergoing testing.).

By booking, clients consent to participate and understand this test is not a substitute for medical advice or treatment
3. Certificate Validity
Mask Fit Test Certificates are valid for up to 24 months, unless earlier retesting is needed due to:

Significant facial changes (e.g., weight loss/gain, dental surgery, facial surgery, or new facial hair)

Change in respirator brand/model
-
Employment requirements for annual testing in high-risk settings
Note: It is the client’s responsibility to retain their certificate and notify their employer of any changes requiring re-testing.
4. Cancellation

Individual Appointments: Please provide at least 24 hours' notice for cancellations

Group Bookings (3+ clients): Require 48 hours' notice for cancellation or rescheduling
5. Safety and Infection Control
We prioritize client safety through strict adherence to:

CSA Z94.4-18 standards

Local Public Health Unit guidelines

Full disinfection of equipment between clients

Use of gloves, eye protection, and hand hygiene protocols
Clients may request:
A laminated IPAC Quick Guide
A badge sticker to display fit test compliance
6. Data Protection and Privacy
We value your privacy. Your personal and health information is:

Securely stored in accordance with applicable privacy legislation

Used solely for service documentation and recordkeeping

Never shared without your written consent, unless legally required
7. Limitations
Please note the following limitations of this service:

This is not an accredited training course and does not grant formal certification in PPE usage
-
This service provides qualitative fit testing only; some workplaces may require quantitative testing based on risk level
-
It does not replace an employer's formal Respiratory Protection Program (RPP) or ongoing workplace training requirements
